How to use Smart edit
Join several clips on your canvas into one finished video: set the order, trim, let AI write captions and add music. Every step below is a recording of the real thing.
Add a Smart edit node
Drag out from the + on the right of any video node, let go and choose "Smart edit"; the new node is connected automatically. You can also use "Add node" at the bottom of the canvas.
Connect the videos and music
Drag from the + of each other video node onto the edit node. Audio nodes can be connected too and used as music. The node shows how many clips are connected and the total length.
Open the editor and set the order
Click "Open editor" or double-click the node. Clips start out in left-to-right canvas order; drag them in the timeline at the bottom to reorder, and click "Order as on canvas" to put them back.
Let AI write captions
Click "AI captions" and AI writes one line per clip from its generation prompt, so together they tell a story. Select a clip to edit its text, or click "Undo last change" if you don't like the result.
Shorten and trim
Click "15 s", "30 s" or "60 s" and every clip is shortened in proportion, keeping the middle. For finer control, select a clip and drag the "Start" and "End" sliders, or play to the frame you want and click "Start here".
Preview from the start
Click play or press the space bar to play the whole video in order. Captions appear at the same size and position as in the exported video.
Pick music and export
Under "Music", pick the connected audio and set the volume, then click "Export video". You can keep working while it exports; when it's done the video appears on the node, ready to play, download or connect to other nodes.
Good to know
- Cost
- Exporting with Smart edit doesn't use credits for now; each person can export 30 times a day.
- Length
- Up to 30 clips and 5 minutes per video.
- Aspect ratio
- Choose 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1; the default follows the first clip. Clips with a different ratio get black bars instead of being cropped.
- Transition
- Clips can cut straight or fade into each other, and the video can fade in from and out to black.
- Sound
- If the music is shorter than the video it loops, and it fades out at the end. Each clip's original sound can be muted on its own.
- Changes
- To change an exported video, click "Edit again" on the node to go back to the editor, then export again.
